मोक्षमुलं - mokShamulaM

THE MANTRA NO. 871 FROM "SHREE VISHNU-SAHASRANAM" IS:
ॐ सत्त्ववते नमः
OM sattvavate namaH

SHREE PARASHARA BHATTA ACHARYA CITES WONDERFUL PRAMANAS FROM "SHREE VARAHA-PURANA" IN HIS TIKA!

Tika by Shree Parashara Bhatta Acharya:

Here begins the delineation of Lord Shree Narayana as presiding over the Sattvaguna.

"Sattva-vaan" means "He Who has the quality of Sattva (under His Control)".

Bhagavan Shree Vishnu presides directly over the Sattva-guna which has the qualities of lustre, lightness and bliss and which therefore is the cause of salvation (मोक्षमुलं - mokShamulaM). Vide:

महान् प्रभुर्वै पुरुषः सत्त्वस्यैष प्रवर्तकः
mahAn prabhurvai puruShaH sattvasyaiSha pravartakaH

"The Great Lord is The Supreme Person Who guides the flow or the movement of Sattva-guna" ["Shree Shwetashwatara-Upanishad"]

The qualities of Rajas and Tamas are being manipulated by Lord Shree Narayana through the medium of Brahma and Siva respectively.

Bhagavan Shree Varaha says in the Vaaraaha Purana:

सत्त्वेन मुच्यते जन्तुः सत्त्वं नारायणात्मकम्
रजसा सत्त्वयुक्तेन भवेत् श्रीमान् यशोऽधिकः
sattvena muchyate jantuH sattvaM nArAyaNAtmakam
rajasA sattvayuktena bhavet shrImAn yasho.adhikaH

"A being is released from bondage because of the quality of Sattva in him. Sattva is indeed Narayana Himself. If a person has the quality of Rajas coupled with Sattva, he becomes a man of wealth and great fame" ["Shree Varaha-Puranam"]

तच्च पैतामहं वृत्तं सर्वशास्त्रेषु पठ्यते
यद्रजस्तमसोपेतं मोऽहं नास्त्यत्र संशायः
tachcha paitAmahaM vRRittaM sarvashAstreShu paThyate
yadrajastamasopetaM mo.ahaM nAstyatra saMshAyaH

"It is declared in all the Sastras that it is the nature of Brahma when Rajas becomes associated with Tamas. In fact He is also Myself (i.e. He is controlled by Me, that is by Bhagavan Shree Narayana). There is no doubt about it." ["Shree Varaha-Puranam"]
