English annotation by Vishnudut1926: I have written mixed positive-negative review for this English translation (reasons below), it is up to you whether to read or ignore the Book (I would rather ignore awful English translation of this edition, turning instead to original Sanskrit of OM Vishnupad VishnuPuri Swami).
The idea of this Grantha is
the following: some crucial Verses of "Shreemad-Bhagavatam" are organized in 13 Strings.
Each String has its own mood - for example, String 06 is about Shree Krishna-Dhyana, String 13 about Shree Krishna-Ashraya:
Sadly, but the English translation was made by not a Vaishnava, but by some imbecile "professor of Sanskrit" and resulted in numerous offences.
SO, CAUTION: The English translation has Vaishnava offences and often is against Vaishnava-Siddhanta.
The English translation is not good, because the translator entirely lacks knowledge of Vaishnava-Siddhanta and truly speaking just dumb and imbecile.
One more disadvantage of the English translation is that Glosses of OM Vishnupad VishnuPuri Swami were not translated, instead of them English "notes" of the translator attached, which are...yes, imbecile again.
One of the "notes" on p.9 sadly has the offense of Shree Ramanuja-Sampradaya (the translator accuses us of inferioring Shaktas and Shaivas, which we never do actually).
The other note on p.120 try to refute "Nishkama-Bhakti" of Gopis, attributing carnal desires to Gopikas (which is against Vaishnava-Siddhanta). The other offences are rather numerous and not worth of mentioning.
Now about the advantages of the Book:
1. Sanskrit Version (including Sanskrit Glosses of OM Vishnupad VishnuPuri Swami) is totally preserved.
2. This is the only existing English Version of "Shree Bhakti-Ratnavali".
3. You can read in speed mode (which I did), just writing out the number of Verses and checking them in other English translation of "Shree Bhagavata-Purana".
My personal mode of reading was the following:
a) I have made Rubriques in my Evernote (just short names such as "Angas, Ashraya"), it looked like this (click to enlarge):
b) When I found the Verse I liked, I just screenshooted it to Evernote (via Lightshot - app.prntscr.com)
c) In my notebook I made scribbles about the message of each String (for example, after reading String 04 I have scribbled "All about Shree Krishna-Katha").
d) As a result, I have received "Shree Bhakti-Ratnavali" very systemized.
"Shree Bhakti-Ratnavali" definitely must be studied by Vaishnavas, but as you see current English translation is utterly bad.
I hope, some Vaishnava Parampara will publish more decent English translation in the future.
