English annotation by Vishnudut1926: Very interesting and decent research about Shri SamkaraDeva-Acharya (the founder of medieval Bhakti-movement in Assam) in comparison with OM VishnuPad Shree Ramanuja-Acharya's Siddhanta.
I recommend for the reading, but if you don't belong to Shree Ramanuja-Sampradaya you should be aware of 2 points before plunging into this book:
1. This research claims, that Siddhanta of SamkaraDeva bears more resemblance to Shree Ramanuja-Siddhanta and less resemblance to Shree Gaudiya-Siddhnata (Shree Gaudiya Sampradaya of Bengal).
This statement is totally wrong, because:
a. Assamese Bhakti of SamkaraDeva is the same "Krishna-Bhakti for the masses" as the Bengal Bhakti of Chaitanya, while OM VishnuPad Shree Ramanuja-Acharya always preached about Bhagavan Shree Narayana and Prapatti (not Bhakti!!!).
b. The Vaishnavism of Shree Ramanuja-Acharya is actually Shaktism with the solid emphasis on the orthodox PanchaRatra and "Shree Lakshmi-Tantra" especially. There is no scope for Krishna and Bhakti in the orthodox PanchaRatra and in the orthodox Shree Ramanuja-Siddhanta as well: it's all about Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi and Bhagavan Shree Narayana.
c. Geography matters! The gap between Shree Ramanuja-Siddhanta and Shree SamkaraDeva-Siddhanta can be easily grasped by just looking at the map of India (above or you can see on flickr - https://flic.kr/p/26JNtQA)
As you can see Assam (SamkaraDeva) and Bengal (Chaitanya) are neighbours, while Tamil Nadu (OM VishnuPad Shree Ramanuja-Acharya) is situated hundred miles away from Assam and Bengal.
2. This survey also has too simplistic rendering of Shree Ramanuja-Siddhanta - no any word about Tenkalai and Vadakalai, for example. And no a single word about Rahasyas and Shree PanchaRatra.
The synopsis of Shree Ramanuja-Siddhanta in this survey is suitable only for absolute beginners who just start to get interested in Shree Ramanuja-Sampradaya.
In spite of the shortfalls enumerated, the survey is very good, as it has incredibly decent synopsis of main Assamese Bhakti tenets and Shree SamkaraDeva-Acharya bio. So, good if you want to study Assamese Bhakti, but not good if you are interested in the advanced Shree Ramanuja-Siddhanta.
By the way, if someone is truly interested in genuine Shree Ramanuja-Siddhanta, he/she should refer to "Shree Rahasya-Traya-Sara" by OM VishnuPad Shree Vedanta Desika (The Northern Branch of Shree Ramanuja-Sampradaya also known as Vadakalai), you can find pdf-scan in my E-Library - #"SRIMAD RAHASYATRAYASARA OF SRI VEDANTA DESHIKA", translated by M. R. RajaGopala Ayyangar, published by Agnihotram Ramanuja, 1946#
Some technical notes about the scan: the scan had been found on archive.org in 2 page-binding (this binding is very inconvenient in case you read from 10-inch tablet).
As usually I have made split in PDF-Xchange and transformed the scan into 1-page binding. The above links are for 1-page binding, still if you need 2-pages version, please refer to - https://archive.org/details/VaishnavismOfSankaraDevaAndRamanujaSreenivasaMurthyH.V.MLBD
