English annotation by Vishnudut1926: Good book for those ones who are interested in Gopi-Madhurya-Bhakti.
Surdas is one of the Saints in Shree Vallabha-Vaishnava-Sampradaya (Pushti-Marg).
The 1st part of the book is philological, while the 2nd one contains the translation of Surdas Bhakti-poetry.
See, for example, the Verse from page 27:
The girl of Braj is terribly anxious
She has dedicated to Him (Krishna)
her body, heart, and everything.
She has given to Him all.
Abandoning her honour, giving up her modesty she adores Shyam.
She has now no fear.
She even forgets how to call out and sell her curds,
She says, buy my Shyam - my Shyam
She does not remember that she has a home to return to.
Surdas says, when she meets her Lord,
The agitation turns to joy;
Under His body
She becomes one with Him, like yellow turmeric mixed with lime.
