"Shreemad-Bhagavatam" Discourse: Beauty of Lord Shree Krishna, family pashus and Dwaraka free of curses


I am reading the 11th Song of "Shreemad-Bhagavatam" these nights. The concept behind my reading is simple: I just read around 6 pages before
falling into sleep in my electronic book with cool "E-Ink Pearl" screen:) and register the Verses I appreciate in my notebook. 

After this I am compiling a small post devoted the The Verses I have chosen. 

11.01.6-7

Verses 11.01.6-7 tell about The Beauty of Krishna:

स्वमूर्त्या लोकलावण्य निर्मुक्त्या लोचनं नृणाम्
गीर्भिस्ताः स्मरतां चित्तं पदैस्तानीक्षतां क्रियाः
आच्छिद्य कीर्तिं सुश्लोकां वितत्य ह्यञ्जसा नु कौ
तमोऽनया तरिष्यन्तीत्यगात्स्वं पदमीश्वरः

svamUrtyA lokalAvaNya nirmuktyA lochanaM nR^iNAm
gIrbhistAH smaratAM chittaM padaistAnIkShatAM kriyAH
AchChidya kIrtiM sushlokAM vitatya hya~njasA nu kau
tamo.anayA tariShyantItyagAtsvaM padamIshvaraH

Translation: "The Supreme Lord Krishna retired to His Abode after
  • captivating the eyes of persons with His Superb Personality which surpassed the world in beauty (and made people's eyes unwilling to see anything else),
  • and by His words He fascinated the hearts of those who remembered them, 
  • by His foot-prints He suspended the movements and actions of those who espied them (and had thus concentrically attracted to Himself all the propensities of the people who saw Him), 
and after having spread His glory all over the earth - His glory which can be sung in beautiful verses and which if heard or recited makes people easily cross over the darkness of Avidya and Samsara".

11.02.01

Verse 11.02.01 is more than interesting, because the translator (Ganesh Vasudeva Tagore) makes very unusual translation. Usually, this Verse is translated just as "Narada-Muni stayed in the Dwaraka, protected by The Arms of Bhagavan Shree Govinda", but  Ganesh Vasudeva Tagore mentions that  the curse applied to Narada-Muni never affects him in Dwaraka (according to the curse Narada-Muni can't live in one place for fixed time and have to wander all the time):

गोविन्दभुजगुप्तायां द्वारवत्यां कुरूद्वह
अवात्सीन्नारदोऽभीक्ष्णं कृष्णोपासनलालसः

govindabhujaguptAyAM dvAravatyAM kurUdvaha
avAtsInnArado.abhIkShNaM kR^iShNopAsanalAlasaH

Translation: In his ardent longing and eagerness to wait upon Bhagavan Shree Krishna, Narada frequently used to stay at Dwaraka despite Daksha's curse of eternal wandering to him, as the curse was ineffective at Dwaraka which was protected by The arms of The Supreme Lord Krishna, O best of Kurus.

11.02.08

Verse 11.02.08 is very classic, it is "anti-grihastha" and "anti-pashu". Shree Vasudeva repents severely that earlier he had worshipped Bhagavan Shree Krishna for progeny, but not for Mukti. 

Unfortunately, in Kali-Yuga we can see a lot of pashus, who pray to Lord Shree Krishna for happy families and etc., which is just silly. 

अहं किल पुरानन्तं प्रजार्थो भुवि मुक्तिदम्
अपूजयं न मोक्षाय मोहितो देवमायया

ahaM kila purAnantaM prajArtho bhuvi muktidam
apUjayaM na mokShAya mohito devamAyayA

Translation: Vasudeva said: "Formerly, in my previous incarnation in this world, I worshipped The Infinite Lord, The Bestower of Mukti, with the desire of getting progeny, but not for the liberation from Samsara, as I was deluded by The Maya of Bhagavan Shree Vishnu". 

11.02.22

This is classic Shuddha-Adwaita Verse. As the admirer of OM VishnuPad Vallabha-Acharya I usually convene all Shuddha-Adwaita Pramanas, so: 

त एते भगवद्रूपं विश्वं सदसदात्मकम्
आत्मनोऽव्यतिरेकेण पश्यन्तो व्यचरन्महीम्

ta ete bhagavadrUpaM vishvaM sadasadAtmakam
Atmano.avyatirekeNa pashyanto vyacharanmahIm

Translation: "They realized that this Universe, both Cause and Effect (gross and subtle) is nothing but The Glorious Lord Himself and not distinct from their self (atman) and ranged over The Earth".
