Wonderful "Unitedness" Verse of "Shree Stuti", please see the commentary by Shree M.K. Shreenivasan.
Eternally United, mutually cognitive,
Intense in Mutual Love, without any hindrance.
Each with countless Virtues inseparabfe for aeons
With Vishnu YOU (SHREE) sport on couches distinctive,
Like yogis' spotless minds or Adisesha's coiled bed
Or Upanishadic hymns said to be Veda's head.
Notes by Shree M.K. Shreenivasan: The inseparability and
perfect congruence of quaities of the Lord and Goddess are delineated in this Verse.
perfect congruence of quaities of the Lord and Goddess are delineated in this Verse.
Having brought out the scriptural description of the Supreme Lord Vishnu and the conclusive identification of Him provided by Goddess Lakshmi, Shree Desika recounts the dose nature of the Togetherness exhibited by Divya-Dampatti.
Since jointly Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi and Bhagavan Shree Narayana attend to the activities of creation, protection and destruction, They are eternally united.
Each of Them helps recognise the Other. Bhagavan Shree Narayana is known as ShriyahPati, Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi is known as Shree VishnuPatni. Both have the interests of the entire universe and its inhabitants at heart, hence there is an intensity of Love between Them directed towards a common goal.
Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi and Bhagavan Shree Narayana perfectly match Each Other, Virtue for Virtue, Quality for Quality and hence there is no difference or hindrance between Them.
That such The Couple is Inseparable is also borne out by the fact that whenever Lord Vishnu incarnates Himself for the good of the world, Goddess Lakshmi takes an appropriate Form and follows Him.
Lord Vishnu is stated to be reclining on the bed provided by the Primordial Serpent Adisesha constantly meditated upon by Yogis as appearing in the Upanishadic utterances.
But since Goddess Shree (Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi) is inseparable from Him and is fully engaged in all His activities, the poet concludes that their Unitedness takes place in different settings depending on the nature of Divine play (Leela) They are enacting.
There is no question of "He alone" or "She alone" in any of Their activities.
This Verse emphasizes the devotional aspect (Bhakti) towards the Divine Couple.
