Unexpected Madhurya-Verse in "Shree Bhagavata-Purana" (Verse 11.8.35)

If you know "Shree Vachana-Bhushanam" by OM VishnuPad Pillai LokAcharya by heart (and I do) you should remember the Verse in which OM VishnuPad Pillai LokAcharya says, that mukta-jiva can be compared with Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi. 

The sense is that jiva belongs to Chit-Shakti and in mukta-state she becomes a wife of Bhagavan Shree Narayana (though still remaining in the status of amsha, that is being not so Great as Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi). 

Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi says about the same Siddhanta in the first Chapters of "Shree Lakshmi-Tantra". 

Reading "Shree Bhagavata-Purana" this week I have encountered very unordinary Verse with the same Siddhanta. The Verse is truly the unexpected one, because it is from 11th Skandha of "Shreemad-Bhagavatam" and it is in the Chapter about Pingala. 

Pingala says that she will buy Bhagavan Shree Narayana (the price of the purchase will be Absolute Prapatti from her side) and she will enjoy with Bhagavan Shree Narayana like Goddess RamA (Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi) does! 

So the Verse (11.8.35):

सुहृत् प्रेष्ठतमो नाथ आत्मा चायं शरीरिणाम्

तं विक्रीयात्मनैवाहं रमे ऽनेन यथा रमा 

And 3 translations:

✩A.C. BhaktiVedanta Swami PrabhuPada (ISCKON, link): "The Supreme Personality of Godhead is absolutely the most dear one for all living beings because He is everyone’s well-wisher and Lord. He is the Supreme Soul situated in everyone’s heart. Therefore I will now pay the price of complete surrender, and thus purchasing the Lord I will enjoy with Him just like LakṣmīDevī".

Я буду наслаждаться с Кри как МахаЛакшмёныш!

Да, девчонки, несколько дерзкий заголовок. Я сегодня написала пост на английском и Хинди про очень-очень неожиданный стих из "Шримад-Бхагаватам" - http://vishnudut1926.blogspot.com/2016/12/unexpected-madhurya-verse-in-shree.html

Небольшая предыстория. У меня справа в блоге всегда висит ссылка на "Шри Вачана-Бхушанам" ОМ ВишнуПад Пиллай ЛокАчарьи. 

ОМ ВишнуПад Пиллай ЛокАчарья не просто Ключевой Ачарья Шри Рамануджа-Сампрадаи, а Один из Двух Основных (вместе с ОМ ВишнуПад Веданта Десикой) и прапанны (бхакты) из Шри Рамануджа-Сампрадаи прекрасно помнят, что в "Шри Вачана-Бхушанам" есть стих, в котором ОМ ВишнуПад Пиллай ЛокАчарья говорит, что освобожденная джива (мукта-джива) становится подобна Шримати МахаЛакшми-Деви. 

Данная Сиддханта базируется, естественно, на "Шри Лакшми-Тантре". В первых Главах "Шри Лакшми-Тантры" Шримати МахаЛакшми-Деви как раз рассказывает о том, что джива принадлежит к Чит-Шакти и в состоянии Саюджья-Мукти обретает Черты Поклоняемой Ишвари, то есть Шримати МахаЛакшми-Деви. 

Напомню также, что в Шри Рамануджа-Сампрадае считается, что Саюджья-Мукти также включает в себя другие виды Мукти, в частности, Сарупья-Мукти, в общем, неудивительно, что мукта-джива приобретает Форму, похожую на Форму Шримати МахаЛакшмёныша-Деви!!!!!!!!

Возвращаясь к теме очень неожиданного Стиха из "Шримад-Бхагаватам" - это Стих 11.8.35 "Шримад-Бхагаватам" и его произносит Пингала. Это первый необычный момент. 

А второй необычный момент - это то, Кришнёныш поместил этот Стих именно в 11ую Песнь, которая в отличие от Песни 10 не такая "Мадхуристая" и "Шрингаристая"😍😍😍😍😍😍

Ну и третий момент - это то, что произносит Пингала. 

Дословно перевод Стиха 11.8.35 звучит следующим образом: "Я "куплю" Бхагавана Шри Нараяну тем, что предложу Ему самую высокую цену - Абсолютное Шаранагати (Прапатти). Я полностью предамся Бхагавану Шри Нараяне и буду наслаждаться с Ним Супружескими Играми подобно тому как наслаждается Шримати РамА-Деви (Шримати МахаЛакшми-Деви или Шримати Радхарани-Деви или Шримати Рукмини-Деви)". 

Такой вот очень необычный Стих, девчонки, РамА в данном случае пишется именно с долгой "А" на конце (रमा - ramA) - http://spokensanskrit.de/index.php?tinput=ramA&direction=SE&link=yes&choice=yes

Этот Стих (да и сама история Пингалы) чем-то очень напомнил мне Стих из "Шива-Пураны" про Манджари-Бхаву,  я ранее писала здесь - http://vishnudut1926.blogspot.ru/2016/03/blog-post_26.html

Я теперь этот Стих прямо боготворю (Кришнатворю, девчонки) - он не просто необычный, а является одним из Супер-Праманов для всех Гопик и радикальных фанаток МахаЛакшмёныша и МахаРадхушёныша, естественно!

Неделя с фитнес-браслетами! Нужны ли они - ДА!

Да, девчонки, я уже почти неделю ношу фитнес-браслеты (Xiaomi Mi Band 2 + Acme Act 02), о которых писала в этом посте - https://vishnudut1926.blogspot.ru/2016/11/xiaomi-mi-band-2.html 

Acme Act 02 я в итоге оставила как секундомер и наручные часы (ношу на правой руке). По части остальных измерений он оказался не очень точным, он работает под софт VeryFit 2.0, а сам софт не идеален. 

В общем, если вам нужен именно фитнес-трекер для измерения шагов и сна, то его лучше не покупать. Но если нужен хороший гаджет, который умеет находить телефон (у него есть такая опция), а также выступать как секундомер и показывать время, то да, его можно купить!

Я им на самом деле безумно довольна - его секундомер настолько прикольный, что я им меряю все - от времени изучения Грантх до времени приготовления риса! Чтобы включить на нем секундомер нужно в самом первом меню времени вдавить кнопку переключения на несколько секунд, не отпуская, он завибрирует и переключится в режим секундомера (показывая при этом время). 

В общем, я безумно довольна подарком (напомню, что он был найден в дисконте Юлмарта за копеечные 900 руб. - это дешевле чем поддельные Casio), в общем, спасибо Радхараничке и Кришнёнышу за подарок!

Xiaomi Mi Band 2. А вот от Xiaomi Mi Band 2 я в полном восторге. У него вообще нет проблем с измерением. Я жутко хотела измерять время своего сна, а также фазы быстрого и медленного сна и Xiaomi Mi Band 2 справляется просто идеально! 

К счастью, у меня проблем со сном нет и сплю я от 9 до 12 часов в сутки (и еще люблю поваляться днем), девчонки. Теперь браслет автоматически записывает статистику моего сна в программу и мне жутко интересно смотреть на столбики с цифрами и отчеты! 

В общем, оба браслета - это однозначно одни из лучших покупок этого года (вместе с новым ноутбуком, новыми гитарными процессорами, гитарами и еще кучей всего, что я накупила и что уже не влезает в 4 комнаты моей квартиры). 

Завтра или во вторник приезжает новый позолоченный телефон - подарок МахаРадхушёночки - позже напишу о нем!

For me this is one of the most anticipated Granthas, can't wait to read and the story behind "Shree NamRatnakhya Stotra" is the following (cited from http://www.kripanidhi.com/Pathshala/sevenBalaks.htm):

"Shri Raghunathji was the fifth son of Shri Gusainji, he was born in the year 1554 A.D. He loved Shri Gusainji very much. Every morning Shri Raghunathji would open his eyes only after he was infront of his father Shri Gusainji, till then he would keep his eyes closed.

One day when he was going to the darshan of Shri Gusainji woth closed eyes, his head smashed into a pillar and he fell down.

Immediately Shri Gusainji gave Shri Raghunathji a drawing of himself and told Raghunathji to do darshan of that drawing in the morning.

Just as Shri Gusainji has shown his love for his father - Shri Vallabh - by writing 108 names in praise of Shri Vallabh in the "Sarvottam stotram", Shri Raghunathji has also created 108 names of Shri Gusainji in the "Namratnakhya stotra".

This shows his love for Shri Gusainji. He can be differentiated by the pag (head-gear) he wore"

While reading "SUMMARY OF SHUDDHADVAITA VANGAMAYA" by Sharad Goswami I have noticed a brief note about "Shree Radha-Prarthana-Chatushloki", which looked like this:

Actually this is a Synopsis of crucial Granthas written by Acharyas of Shree Vallabha-Sampradaya (Pushti Marg). 

This Book is especially valuable in case you are searching for some rare Granthas of Shree Vallabha-Sampradaya. 

Thanks to this Book (and Kripa of Shreemati Radharani-Devi, of course!) I have found "Shri Radha-Prarthana-Chatushloki" written by Shri Vithalacarya.

Приехали 2 новых фитнес-браслета, девчонки. Я их купила, потому что мне жутко понравилась идея контроля глубокого сна + идея подсчета шагов и каллорий + идея хайтек-Дхьяна-Йоги.

Первый браслет - это Xiaomi Mi Band 2 (стоит всего 2400 руб., я свой купила на pleer.ru). Если будете покупать браслет от Xiaomi, то ни в коем случае не покупайте версию 1 (Band 1) - он без цифрового экранчика и морально устарел. 

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 с цифровым экранчиком мне очень понравился, я его быстро настроила под телефон и уже вовсю считаю все, что только можно. 

Второй браслет - это Acme Act 02, купила его только по той причине, что в дисконте Юлмарта он продавался за 900 рублей. По сравнению с Xiaomi он сильно проигрывает, единственная причина по которой я его купила - это зеленые цифры и неплохой дизайн. Позже буду тестировать его на телефоне (он работает на VeryFit 2.0 из google play) - в этот сезон я буду носить 2 браслета на левой руке. 

Xiaomi идеален для Дхьяна-Йоги, посвященной Шримати МахаЛакшмёнышу-Деви, всегда интересно контролировать время транса и очнувшись всегда можно кликнуть на черную кнопку, чтобы понять, что на часах, например, уже 4 утра! 

Я пока писала пост в очередной раз вспомнила, что мы живем в странную эпоху, которая лишь частично является Кали-Югой, но больше похожа на Двапара-Югу с более-менее продвинутыми технологиями (напомню, что в Индии по сей день сохраняются споры по поводу того, в Двапара мы Юге или все-таки в Кали-Юге). 

И мы, кстати, в Шри Сампрадайе (Шри Рамануджа-Сампрадая) следуем именно садхане Двапара-Юге, смотрите более подробно - "Почему в Шри Рамануджа-Сампрадае следуют садхане Двапара-Юге?"

Убегающий рассел...

Synopsis in English: rare photo - dog (jack-russell breed) running away from his family, had been taken accidentally today in Izmailovsky Park.

Да, девчонки, одно из моих самых лучших фото. 

Сегодня днем в парке, мелкий джек-рассел решил убежать от хозяина. Они сначала играли на большом поле, а затем расселу сорвало крышу и он медленно стал убегать, не обращая внимания на оклики. У нас так часто в парке убегают собаки, в детстве от меня так пыталась убежать моя первая собака - такса Синди, но я ее поймала, правда пришлось бежать почти до метро.

На фотографии запечатлена начальная стадия побега - перебег через озеро.  Хозяин еще не понимает, что происходит и делает робкие попытки погнаться за расселом.

Для хозяина это конечно мегатрагедия, всегда жалко терять домашнего любимца, но меня в данном случае больше интересует эстетическая сторона моей фотографии. Фото сделано на мой любимый подарок Радхаранички и Кри -  огромный планшет ASUS, что самое примечательное - я использовала ноль фильтров, т.е. этот редкий случай когда я размещаю raw-фотографию.

The eye of Devotion...

This is the Verse 38 of "Shree Brahma-Samhita" (translation of OM VishnuPad BhaktiSiddhanta Saraswati) and more than brilliant explanation of Shree ShyamaSundar Siddhanta in connection with Bhakti.

Translation: I worship Govinda, the Primeval Lord, Who is Shyamasundara, Krishna Himself with inconceivable innumerable Attributes, Whom the pure devotees see in their heart of hearts with the eye of Devotion tinged with the salve of love. (38)

This edition is unique, because it dwells on all the aspects of Shree PanchaRatra: 

starting from theoretical part (the refutation of anti-PanchaRatra statements from "Shree Kurma-Purana" or anti-PanchaRatra statements of Shankaracharya in "Shree Vedanta-Sutra) and finishing with the pure praxis (Chapters about Urdhva-Pundra, Archana and etc.)

"Shree Stuti" by OM VishnuPad Vedanta Desika MahAcharya - Verse 04

This is one of the most Beautiful Yugala-Verses of "Shree Stuti". 

OM VishnuPad Vedanta Desika lauds The Red Feet of Shreemati MahaLakshmi-Devi with Shree Shakti-Siddhanta based on "Shree Guna Ratna-Kosha" and "Shree RangaRajaStava".

यत्सङ्कल्पाद्भवति कमले यत्र देहिन्यमीषां
जन्मस्थेमप्रलयरचना जङ्गमाजङ्गमानाम् ।
तत्कल्याणं किमपि यमिनामेकलक्ष्यं समाधौ
पूर्णं तेजः स्फुरति भवतीपादलाक्षारसाङ्कम् ॥ ४॥

God is The Soul of things animate or inanimate;
By His Will the worlds originate, sustain or face destruction;
and He is The Sole Aim of yogis in meditation.
Indrescribable Effulgent Auspiciousness Incarnate.

That Alone glorifies His Form, Auspicious and Complete.

What better way can there be than beginning with God Himself? Several Vedic concepts of

Shree Kama-Gayatri, Spiritual Rebirth, Gopi-Bhava and Brahma...

I fell in love with This Purport from "Shree Brahma-Samhita" translated by OM VishnuPad BhaktiSiddhanta Saraswati Thakur: 

"Shree Kama-Gayatri is the highest of all the Gayatris, because the meditation and prayer contained in it are full of the perfect transcendental sportive activities which are not to be found in any other Gayatri. 

The Gayatri that is attained as the sequel of The 18-lettered Mantram (Shree Gopala-Mantra) is Kama-Gayatri which runs thus: 

 

In this Gayatri, the realisation of the Transcendental Pastimes of Shree GopiJana-Vallabha after perfect meditation and the prayer for the attainment of the Transcendental God of Love are indicated. 

In the spiritual world there is no better mode of endeavour for securing the super-excellent rasa-bedewed-love. 

As soon as that Gayatri entered into the ear-holes of Brahma, he became the twice-born and began to chant the Gayatri. Whoever has received the same Gayatri in reality, has attained his spiritual rebirth. 

The status of a twice-born that is obtained in accordance with one's worldly nature and lineage, by the fettered souls of this mundane world, is far inferior to that of the twice-born who obtains admission into the transcendental world; because the initiation or acquisition of transcendental birth as a result of spiritual initiation is the highest of glories in as much as the jiva is thereby enabled to attain to the transcendental realm. 

Brahma thought thus within himself: "By the recollection of Kama-Gayatri it seems to me that I am the eternal maid-servant of Krishna".

Though the other mysteries in regard to the condition of the maid-servant of Krishna were not revealed to him, Brahma, by dint of his searching self-consciousness, became well-acquainted with the Ocean of Truth"

Благополучие и Бхакти: аудитория и статистика блога...

Да, девчонки, мой блог в этом году вышел на посещаемость примерно 2500 человек в неделю. 

Знаете, что меня больше всего поразило? То, что больше половины моей аудитории приходит из США, а большинство просмотров блога происходит с недешевых Apple-систем (смотрите картинку в начале поста).

То есть, если переводить на язык социологии, то большинство моей аудитории на данный момент - это благополучные американцы (а также благополучные Хинду из Америки) и не просто благополучные, а из нормальных семей, судя по тому, что они могут себе позволить недешевые компьютеры и ноутбуки от Apple...

В сущности, как Тула-Лагна я всегда очень яростно отстаивала аргумент о том, что "Бхакти существует только для богатых" и даже статистика блога подтверждает мою точку зрения...

Год назад, кстати, тренд был совершенно другой - большинство траффика было из Индии, в этом году Индия на 2ом месте - в неделю в блог заглядывает примерно 500 человек из Индии. 

Россия на 3-ем месте - порядка 200 человек. 

В сущности, мы с Радхушёнышем и Кри еще давно тему России обсуждали - с Россией все несколько печально - аудитория здесь всегда будет очень небольшой (причины - бедность, вымирание населения, плохая демография и т.п.). 

Именно поэтому еще в далеком 2013 Радхушёныш и Кри решили, что блог будет именно двуязычным с упором именно на английский. 

В итоге так оно и вышло - мы вещаем на благополучную Америку. Я вижу в этом только один позитив - чем больше у человека больше Сукрити, тем в более богатой и позитивной стране он рождается для того, что без проблем практиковать Прапатти/Бхакти.

Хотя, как я уже не раз писала богатейшая даже в кризис Москва просто мегаотлично подходит для практики Шри Вишну-Бхакти и я живой тому пример.

Да, кстати, и не забывайте американских Хинду - много Хинду учатся в Америке зачастую на технологических факультетах.

В общем, мы везде! Вездесущи словно Шри Кришнёныш из "Шри Ишопанишад"!

Тайная жизнь животных (The secret life of pets) и сундук с развлечениями...

Отсмотрела с утра этот мультфильм. Тот редкий случай, когда я не могу сказать ничего плохого. 

Мультфильм в чем-то опирается на классическую американскую мультипликацию (например, унаследовал джазовый биг-бэнд саундтрек + сцены со строящимся Нью-Йорком и катанием на лифтах - это аллюзии к ранним черно-белым мультфильмам).

Очень рекомендую посмотреть его в уютный Новый Год (например, декабрьским вечером). 

Очень Новогодний мультфильм, в детстве мы под такие мультфильмы обычно уже где-то с 15 декабря лежали опухшие от тортов и сладостей (а сейчас лежим опухшие от тортов каждый день - это я о нашей с Радхушёнышем и Кри привычке съедать по торту каждый день😈😈😈).  

Да, девчонки, как вы поняли у нас уже с Радхушёнышем и Кри начался Новогодний сезон развлечений. Я каждый год пишу в блоге, что Новый Год мы начинаем отмечать уже с ноября, так как ненавидим скучать.

У нас с Радхушёнышем и Кри на эту осень-зиму уже заготовлен целый сундук с развлечениями - от гитарного шума до прохождения игр (я вчера прошла SuperCastlevania IV на эмуляторе SNES) и витания в парах духов (я под зиму снова достала прошлогодние Davidoff Cool Water и Davidoff Night Dive - уж больно они мне напоминают о Зимних Объятиях Кришнёныша!).

The highlight of this version is approximately 10-pages length explanation of "Svakiya-Parakiya-Dilemma" written by OM VishnuPad BhaktiSiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. 

This is the best and most detailed explanation of "Svakiya-Parakiya" I have ever encountered in Shree Gaudiya-Granthas. 

Some glosses on Shree Kama-Gayatri will be also very heart-pleasing to any person cherishing Shree Gopala-Mantra, because Shree Gopala-Mantra does not exist without Shree Kama-Gayatri-Sadhana. 

If you belong to Shree Gaudiya-Sampradaya, I recommend to study this Edition in a very diligent way. Personally, I fell in love in this version.

Да, девчонки, я очень рекомендую не проходить мимо редкого издания "Шри Брахма-Самхиты" 1932 года. 

Это издание ОМ ВишнуПад БхактиСиддханты Сарасвати Тхакура (сын БхактиВиноды Тхакура и Гуру Его Божественной Милости А.Ч. БхактиВеданты Свами Прабхупады, Который более известен как "Шрила Прабхупада и Ачарья-Основатель ИСККОН", хотя я думаю, БхактиСиддханта Сарасвати не нуждается в представлении в моем блоге😊).

Издание содержит Тики ОМ ВишнуПад Дживы Госвами и БхактиСиддханты Сарасвати Тхакура. В общем, очень классическое издание в Линии Шри Гаудия-Сампрадайи.

Свакия-Паракия. Если вас интересует дилемма "Свакия - Паракия" и вообще феномен "Паракия-Расы", то обрадую Вас - для данного издания "Шри Брахма-Самхиты" ОМ ВишнуПад БхактиСиддханта Сарасвати написал примерно 10-страничное объяснение "Паракия-Расы". 

Это самое длинное и исчерпывающее объяснение, которое я встречала в Шри Гаудия-Грантхах. 

Напомню, что в рамках Шри Гаудия-Сампрадайи, как правило, Высшей считают именно Паракия-Расу, но ОМ ВишнуПад Джива Госвами в Сандарбхах неожиданно для всех оставил Тики о Свакия-Расе, что иногда вызывает некоторые споры в различных Линиях Шри Гаудия-Сампрадайи.

ОМ ВишнуПад БхактиСиддханта Сарасвати Тхакур подробно рассматривает именно этот спорный момент - проще говоря, вопрос из серии "Почему Рупа Госвами говорил о Паракия-Расе, а Джива Госвами - о Свакия-Расе?". 

Что касается Паракия-Расы, то вкратце идея такова - Раса-Лилам Шримати Радхарани-Деви и Бхагавана Шри Кришны ни в коем случае нельзя приписывать оскверненные мирские толкования. 

Джива в шуддха-состоянии видит Раса-Лилу не психическим умом и не физическими глазами, а духовным серцем или духовной антакараной (здесь как раз более чем уместен именно Санскритский термин अन्तःकरण     antaHkaraNa - http://spokensanskrit.de/index.php?tinput=antaHkaraNa&script=&direction=SE&link=yes

Более того, на Шри Голоке все Расы существуют именно в состоянии мегаочищенных шуддха-концептов, то есть в мире Майи и сансары Паракия-Раса действительно является отвратительной и очень отталкивающей, но Шуддха-Паракия-Раса Шри Голоки - это совершенно инверсивное понятие и на Шри Голоке она является самой очищенной, особенно учитывая Сиддханту о том, что "все Гопики на самом деле Замужем за Бхагаваном Шри Кришной (или Его Амшами)". 

В общем, я очень рекомендую скачать данное Издание в свои электронные Библиотеки - оно удачно во всех смыслах - даже обложка (смотрите картинку к посту) вышла в Кришнёновско-Лунном Стиле - серебрянно-лунные буквы на синем фоне.

"Отряд самоубийц" - кино для 4-летних олигофренов (с SFX на уровне 90ых)...

Да, девчонки, я где-то год назад писала о том, что обожаю издеваться над имбецильностью и низким IQ американских фильмов.

В ноябре я посмотрела сразу 2 идиотских фильма - "Отряд самоубийц" и "Охотники за привидениями".

Просмотр выглядел следующим образом - в руках у меня был красный Washburn, подключенный к гитарному процессору, настроенному на очень злобные металлические патчи. Пока я пилю очень злобные риффы в стиле

Even the headline of The Grantha starts from the flop, because strange English collocation "Super-Energy" had been used instead of "MahaShakti".

"Shree PanchaStavi", being The Sister-Grantha of "Shree Saundarya-Lahari" is better to be studied in Sanskrit.

As for The Siddhanta "Shree PanchaStavi" is mainly in Tamasika-Rajasika key and compared with "Shree Lakshmi-Tantra", for example, "Shree PanchaStavi" can collect only about 3 points out of 100 (that is "Shree Lakshmi-Tantra" rated at 100 out of 100 points by me and "Shree PanchaStavi" just at 3 points out of 100). 

This is my Orthodox Vaishnava opinion.

Shree ShankarAcharya, Kashmir and His transformation into Kaula-Shakta...

Due to The Grace of Shreemati Durga-Devi I have finally found the English edition of "Shree PanchaStavi". I have dreamt about this Edition in the course of recent 3 years (though I had Hindi and Sanskrit Versions). 

I will upload this brilliant Shree Shakti-Grantha in my blog later. It is said in the introduction to the English version of "Shree PanchaStavi" that Shree SankarAcharya had been transformed into a Shakta in Kashmir ("Shree Shankar Digvijaya", 16.54-80).

I have made extra-research and found 2 very beautiful stories about how Shreemati Durga-Devi had transformed Shree ShankarAcharya in the Shakta, the following text is being cited from http://www.ikashmir.net/saints/shankracharyavisittokashmir.html 

If you have studied "Shree Skanda-Purana" you should know that these 2 stories repeat the Siddhanta from "Shree Skanda-Purana", because several Adhyayas of "Shree Skanda-Purana" are devoted to the joking argument between Shreemati Parvati-Devi and Shiva, in which Shreemati Parvati-Devi proves The Superiority of Shree Shakti-Sampradaya. 

 

"Dr Ved Kumari in 'The Nilamata Purana', writes that according to writer of 'Sankara Digvijaya' -- 'Sankara visited Kashmir after giving a final blow to Buddhism in the rest of India". 

However, according to NK Kotru -- "It was in Kashmir that Buddhism received death blow". 

PN Magzine, a research scholar of repute, writes in 'Shankaracharya Temple and Hill' that Shankaracharya visited Kashmir with the intention of advancing Vedantic knowledge. 

That time Kashmiris were culturally and spiritually much advanced and believed strongly in the greatness of both Shiva and Shakti. 

Story with Kanya. Shankara did not, at that time, when he visited Kashmir, believe in Shakti cult PN Magzine mentions that Shankaracharya with his party camped outside the city of Srinagar, without any boarding and lodging arrangements. 

Seeing the plight of visitors a virgin was sent to meet Shankara. She found the party uneasy and frustrated because of not being able to cook as no fire was made available to them. 

The first glimpse of Shakti was exhibited to Shankara by this girl, when Shankara expressed his inability to make a fire, in reply to girl's question that you are so great, can not you make fire.

The girl picked up two thin wooden sticks (samidhas) into her hand, recited some mantras and rubbed the sticks and fire was produced to the surprise of Shankara.  

PN Magzine further adds that later a Shastrarth (religious discourse) was arranged between Shankara and a Kashmiri woman. This discourse continued for 17 days. Shankaracharya yielded before the lady in discussion and accepted the predominance of Shakti Cult (Greatness of Devi).

According to PN Magzine, after accepting predominance of Shakti cult, Shankara wrote Saundarya Lahari, in praise of Shakti, at the top of the hill, known till then as Gopadari Hill. 

Pandit Gopi Krishan writes that "Panchastavi--gamut of Shakti Shastra--a priceless gem -- a peerless hymn of praise addressed to Kundalini. The work has been cited as source book by several eminent scholars, but the name of the author has remained undisclosed". 

According to him the only other work in whole gamut of Shakti Shastra in the country, comparable to Panchastavi is Saundarya Lahari. 

PN Magzine says that Saundarya Lahari is acclaimed as master-piece in Sanskrit literature. After the visit of Adi Shankaracharya to Kashmir, he became staunch believer of Shakti-Shri Chakra - the symbol of Devi (Goddess) as mentioned in 'Shankara Digvijay' - Life history of Shankaracharya. 

Thus we know that even, a very knowledge philosopher, a Saint of greater order- Adi Shankaracharya - gained further depth in spritualism and mysticism in Kashmir".
